Summary:
In the not-so-distant future, androids are integral to everyday life. They cook, they clean, they watch the kids. They cater to their owners’ every whim. Perfection is the CyberLife guarantee: Perfect service performed by the perfect human imitation, without all those pesky human needs like salaries, time off, or basic rights. By the year 2038, there are an estimated 120 million androids active worldwide, with 50 million units sold in the United States alone.
Sergeant James Buchanon Barnes is shocked to discover how thoroughly androids have taken over every facet of modern day life upon his return to domestic soil. Most people can’t tell them apart from humans without their regulatory clothing, but Barnes can. It’s all in their glassy eyes. Cold. Empty. Unfeeling. They creep him the hell out, and he wants nothing to do with them. Until that fateful night when Barnes’ android goes rogue to protect him, and they stumble into a series of events that could change the course of human history.
CyberLife set out to create the perfect human imitation; perhaps they went too far.
